Default The Health Information / First aid / Medical thread!

READ THIS BEFORE READING ANYTHING ELSE IN THIS THREAD (Last Update - 1445 2/20/2007 "PenisProblems")

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS DO NOT ASK ME THEM IN THIS THREAD UNLESS YOU UNDERSTAND THAT :

A: I am a uneducated, low level, medical grunt. I do shit work, i dont even talk to patients. BUT! I do recognize alot of things, and i have a knack for finding good articles from journals and other sites on conditions you have, and reading the more complicated doctor jargon ones to see what something may be other than the obvious. (Hypochondriacs beware)

B: You should ALWAYS talk to your doctor. If you dont have insurance, or a doctor, get/have both. You never need health insurance? Yeah, untill it blindsides you on a lazy Tuesday afternoon. Also, im not a certified/registered nurse, doctor, LPN or PA, so everything i say here is out of pure advice, speculation, severity of "x whatever problem", and possible remedy to do before it is nesacery to see a doctor (I cut my knee with this paper, should i go to a doctor? a: no, bandaid, then see doctor to make sure you dont have PTSD.)

C: If you are to scared to go to a doctor to ask for advice on the internet, you should really think about not being scared of doctors, they fix problems before they become dead problems. If you at all feel you are in need of emergency care (physical or mental) you should contact poison control (over doses, if you can still manage to dial a phone or have someone do it...) 911, or suicide lines. This thread is checked atleast once a day

D: No i cant tell you how to get pills, drugs, gasses, how to get those and what to say or act like to get them from a doctor, how to perform any procedure you will need certification (Besides choking and cpr) , or , most importantly, IF YOUR ISSUE IS TRULEY A MEDICAL PROBLEM. I can be wrong, i am human, low level education. and lots, and lots of medical geek reading in my free time.

YES - MY TUMMY HURTS CAN I ASK YOU IF I SHOULD GO TO A DOCTOR

NO- MY TUMMY HURTS CAN YOU TELL ME WHATS WRONG WITH IT SO I THINK ITS WHAT YOU SAID IT IS, AND NOT SEE A DOCTOR ANYWAY? (
I can tell you the possibilities of what it could be, but you should always see a doctor if you have enough gusto to ask a perfect stranger for medical advice)

Now that should hopefully prevent any drama from spawning, as this thread is for INFORMATION ONLY.

CPR - ( If you are untrained, get trained, its easy, but if someone dies you can find an illustrated version, here - remember that the head has to be tilted back (if possible, if they do / possibly have a neck or head injury that would be increased if you try to move their head)
