There's a nasty bug going around right now and it got me. I have a VERY good immune system, so it takes a pretty evil bug to take me down. Just giving ya'll a heads up. wash your hands frequently and avoid anyone with a cough like the plague... cuz it's just that. THE PLAGUE.

This public service announcement was brought to you by a pocket full of posies:

Ashes ashes we all fall down.

Rep for you because you actually know the history behind that song....

People realize most nursaury rhymes like that are about horrible things. They taught them to children a long time ago so they would remember to take the posies with them, and that people would be burned in the streets.

I was watching something on the History Channel about the black death that spread across Europe, and modern science can't explain which disease caused it. Some people still say it was Bubonic, but a lot of the symptoms written about in old texts aren't caused by the bubonic plague.

I had a book when I was wee called "Real Nursery Rhymes" It had the history behind them all, I wish I could find that book.

Anyway about the bug, I had it a while ago and it sucks, it took me almost 4 weeks to feel up to speed again.

This is a really great place to find out the history of the depressing nursery rhymes we sing to kids

http://www.rhymes.org.uk/

The origins of most nursery rhymes reflect events in history and where available we have included both the meanings and origins of everyone's favourite nursery rhymes. Two examples of these types of nursery rhymes origins are 'Ring a Ring o Rosies (http://www.rhymes.org.uk/ring_around_the_rosy.htm)' which refers to the Bubonic plague and 'Remember Remember (http://www.rhymes.org.uk/remember_remember_the_5th_november.htm)' nursery rhymes which allude to Guy Fawkes' foiled attempt to blow up the English Houses of Parliament! Many of the words and nursery rhymes lyrics were used to parody the royal and political events of the day, direct dissent would often be punishable by death! Strange how these events in history are still portrayed through children's nursery rhymes, when for most of us the historical events relationship to the nursery rhymes themselves are long forgotten!

I saw the same documentary... Interesting but terrifying.

Yeah, I caught the fucker day before last. I'm still fighting it off. At first I thought it was food poisoning, but I'm beginning to think differently.

:(

I can't miss anymore work or school! I'm totally effing myself in the A! (not literally)

My symptoms started as a minor sore throat but quickly progressed to major body aches, The first day it did feel like food poisoning. Couldn't keep anything down for the life of me. Aches still persist but now i also have the joy of hot and cold flashes and the excitement of coughing up stuff that looks like it could crawl away if it wanted to.

I think i'm gonna refrigerate some samples on a petri dish and unleash biological warfare on my enemies. now all i need is some enemies... who wants to pledge their undying hatred for me!? it'll be fun, i promise!
