So my new dr who I am not really fond of so far puts me on a bunch of new meds including Naproxen which a pain killer that is supposed to help with MS and my symptoms...... You cant take it with any sort of aspirin or advil with it and must take with food and may make you drowsy.....
So I make sure I dont have any sort of advil or aspirin in my system for days just to be on the safe side...... And I take on yesterday..... I noticed a few red spots last night but I also have 3 cats so I figured they may have been from rough housing with them...... So I got to bed......
I wake up and I HAVE HIVES HEAD TO FUCKING TOE!!!!! Fucking hell this is just a bad day to start with and any time I touch any thing with any part of my body or if any type of clothing or anything touches my skin huge hives......
This sucks! I am taking benadryl but that can take a while to work, even a few days to counteract the Naproxen in my system. My dr is out of town for 1 1/2 weeks and didnt tell me. She never called me with the results of my MRI and seems to only work banker hours when she does work. I have called her office 3 times today to report the allergic reaction and her on call dr still hasnt called me back...
FYI Tizanidine is a really trippy muscle relaxer and I guess its supposed to help me sleep but it just keeps me in that half awake half asleep stage just about all night...... And I have really STRANGE dreams on them and I mean strange....
I HATE NAPROXEN so if you ever have to take it becarful

that totally sucks, i had a reaction like that when i got put on antibiotics for bronchitis, turned out im allergic to pennicilin and i had hives all over for like 3 days, i was miserable
The doc isnt an idiot. If they had to run a reaction test on every med they rx to a patient, you'd be paying 8x as much, and they'd be doing a billion less work.
Atleast you didnt die now you know you have an allergy to that medication
ANd god damn psychosis i love your avatar

Oh no I am not saying its her fault for my allergic reaction there are a bunch of other reasons. The only reason I went to her is because she could get me in to see her faster then the usual 4-7 months out......
I just got home from the ER lots of iv drugs but at least I am feeling better.
I am also allergic to Sulfa drugs which is related to Penacilian..... I have tried all kinds of meds and things but never had a reaction like this. I did from a spider bite 12 years ago but thats it....... So strange......

I can't do Sulfa either. I ended up with the hives as well. then they put me on prednisone to fix that problem, which made me lose my vision for a few weeks............. Bad month!

I was in so much pain last night I was almost crying. They gave me a script for predinisone.... I hate that stuff it makes me gain weight.... just like some of my other stupid pills...
I actually really like naproxen. Helps really good for my headaches.Thats why I was given it in the first place..... So I have a full bottle of it and dont have insurance and I cant even use it. The ER dr said he has actually seen this reaction many times to it so.....

I know what you mean. I take insulin and it's really hard to control my weight on that stuff. I'm glad you are feeling better today.

Holy crap this afternoon they started to come back again damn it.......
I didnt fill my script till like 7.... So its kind of my fault...... I guess... they are settling back down again...
So remember kids. Follow your dr instructions carefully
Yeah, keep up on those dosages and dont skip them, and take them untill they are gone.
Allergic reactions to penacilin can be fatal, but thankfully you have that on your file now, so if you go in incompicitated they will know not to give it to you.
Luckily there are alot of alternatives to pen now.

have you ever taken alieve? The main ingrediant is naproxen. maybe its somthing else you have taken?
just a thought. Naproxen is just a pain reliever, but you could have a reaction to it.

I have just never taken that high of a does.... never thought I would need to. Now I can NEVER take Alieve again because I will most likely have the same reaction. The ER dr said he is seeing more and more cases all the time.
I am doing better but man I still keep getting hives. I have not missed one dose or anything........ This sucks......

Well stop taking it. Fuck what your doctor says, if you get hives bad enough you can swell up your throat. =die
all naproxen is, is alieve with antinflamitory. Take ibprofen. it has almost the same effect.

all naproxen is, is alieve with antinflamitory. Take ibprofen. it has almost the same effect.I only took one and because I am smart enough to have taken a few benadryl and used my allergy inhailer I didnt go into a massive allergic reaction. The ER dr was amazed. He felt so bad for me, I had people in there every 20 min checking on me.
Yes I know I can never take Aleve because it will probably set off the same reaction. I have taken it before but never in this high of dose.
I am lucky I have an inhailer for my stupid inversion reaction that is probably the only reason my throat didnt close up. I am just fucking lucky that i woke up before I had breathing problems.....
