Everyone I know that used it said they had some fucked up dreams too... however they also reported that it worked really good on getting them to quit smoking.

I don't know about the dreams, but I work for a company that does follow up surveys with the tobacco quit lines, and Chantix is a big success for many people. I would say for you to try it.

Most common side effects I've heard from my friends are fucked up dreams and/or possible depression...

Its a good med for quiting. Never heard about the dream thing, but i've taken it myself and I definetly didn't want to smoke on it. That's because it made me sick to my stomach when I smoked, haha. I'm a dumbass though and I quit taking the pill instead of the cigs.

I took it for a bit and it did work. You have to take it for a couple of months if you want to quit for good though.

good luck! i just quit cold turkey after new years. i have had a couple smokes while intoxicated, but honestly i feel much better. a cig still sounds good every now and again, but there is no need for one to calm down. im definitely happy with the change. hope it works out for ya either way.

It made me and a few others really nauseous. Also if you stop taking it earlier then a few months you may relapse.. That happened a few others I know that tried it.

If it were me, I would just quit cold turkey. No weening off, no patch or gum or any other kind of gimmick. Just good ol' mind over matter. If you really care about quitting, just do it. When you get the cravings, face them and beat them. It will make you stronger, and you will feel more accomplished knowing that you did it without a crutch. I am not saying its easy to quit, far from it. But you don't NEED anything to do it, you can just stop. Don't buy them, don't take them if a friend offers, just flat out stop smoking. You are the one in control, they do not control you. You make a choice everytime you light up. Start making a different choice :2cents:

Good Luck

Easier said than done thought Mike-o.

You wouldn't realize just how much of a habit this demon is. For the past 7 years + now, I've smoked every time I get in a car, every time I drink, every time I eat....it's exactly that, a HABIT. and a hard one to break. And to be honest, if my mind was strong enough over the matter, I would have quit long ago, but nicotine is a funny drug. I'm thinking about starting a "say nope to nic" chapter of DARE so that when I do quit (assuming that I will), I can get kids to never even think twice about it. Wait....they already opt against tobacco too. I'll have to come up with something more creative. I just don't wish this upon anyone.

Like today in class. I know I smelled like smoke. The freakin' cheerleader attitude girls on some athletic team always look at me funny. I feel uncomfortable with the glares, but I felt I needed to smoke. I was bummed out about a test, and couldn't concentrate on studying at the time ...so what do I do? What I know best. I smoked. It was the longest hour of my life sitting through class with their eyes drilling into the back of my head though. Ugh, I hate those bitches. (I thought you left things like this/people like them behind in high school..... Lucky me, they're in multiple classes of mine and treat me like the biggest piece of shit on earth when I confront them with any conversation or questions.)

^this is my point, you have allowed it to become a crutch. "I was stressed, I needed to relax". Learn to deal with life issues without smoking, be able to relax using only what is inside of you instead of relying on something else. People use alcohol or drugs in the same way, and that is how they get in trouble. "I had a really bad day, I need to go get shitfaced." It should be recreational, nothing more. I know its hard honey, but the bottom line is that every time you light up you are saying that getting your fix is more important than sticking to your resolve and quitting. Its not the cigs that are doing that, you are choosing to give them that power and you can choose to take it away. Don't blame some "cheerleader types" in your class for making you feel bad, you shouldn't even care what they think. The fact that it got to you shows that you feel guilty about it, which is even more evidence that you shouldn't be doing it at all.

I love ya babe, I am here for you. I may sound like an asshole, but I am saying it because I care. Just quit, stop making excuses, stop lashing out at cheerleaders, stop empowering an unimportant inanimate object that has no business being in your life. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for, you can break the habit if you fully commit to it. Just stop smoking, end of story. No slips, no "I've been good lately, I deserve a smoke" or "I have only had one cig today, one more won't hurt". Just flat out stop and never look back

You totally should be a bigger bitch the next time I talk to you!" with a smile on your face...

4 more days and I too will be on this ride.. :( Although a large part of me is excited another part of me is sad.. Weird huh? Smoking has been a big part of my life for 11 years and its almost like loosing a friend. Something you can depend on to be there when you need it most. I can do it though. I have a lot of things I want that involves me quitting (Ie babies and vocal training classes) so I think this time I will succeed.... Isn't going to be easy though.

My :2cents:....

I smoked for maybe 2 years..not a really involved habit or anything, but it WAS a habit. Then suddenly I just...stopped. My last cigarette was actually at Get Freaky - okay, I *did* get really drunk at Tool and bummed one off Melisa, but I was grossed out after one inhale and threw it on the ground when she wasn't looking. It wasn't difficult to quit in any way for me. I was just...done. No cravings, no nothing. My situation is unique though. I just dont GET it.

*shrug*

and that concludes my worthless input into this thread
