Ben, your art is really great. I love your obsession with curves, spirals, and fractal organization (order in chaos). You've done some really fantastic things with those themes.
Inspiring, work, really. I've also always been fascinated by the juxtaposition of order and chaos. I'm trying to pull them together in my own work, though I admit, not as well as you do in yours...

I've been doing a lot lately with the combination of traditional photographic techniques and intentional motion blur -- using the lights available in a scene as paint brushes. I really like the quality of the curves and spirals in your artwork, and I was going after something similar when I took these shots of Kevin.
Thanks for being so fucking amazing. Keep it up!

it's not a theme.. it's a methodology..

^that's a really cool photo. i like a lot.. how much control do you really have over the shapes that are created? is it random, or can you be specific in what it will come up with?

I can fine tune the amount of control I have over the photo by adjusting the variables. Being close to the subject as I was for that photo, and with a half second exposure, I had a pretty good amount of control. It just takes practice and finesse.
Good light painting is like playing the piano -- for the best results, you have to be in the moment, and let the emotion move you, rather than trying to force the emotion.
heh.. you, as well.. you know, i wouldn't mind getting the chance to use a photo or two of yours as photochopping fodder..Please do! Just be sure to share the results with me, and of course credit me. =)
