For those of you who dont live with your parents and have to buy your own food, does buying off-brand items really save money? Or does buying off-brand sacrifice quality? Whats your take on it?

it saves money, but sometimes it's worth it to buy the name brand, for quality/preference purposes.

I'm all about the sales.. and yeah some generic brand shit sometimes (kroger, etc,) But there are things like food I just rather not compromise. Depends on what product. Read the ingredients on both products and compare.

Kroger scares me. Their canned stuff has had a lot of issues lately... Like contamination...

My brothers used to work at Maceys and most of the food was made by most of the same companies. Like the Del Monte corn also made the generic corn as well. They just had different labels.

I can't agree more. Either Hidden Valley, or better... like Litehouse. mmmm....
I tend to get the name brand stuff, but mostly for the reason that it makes me feel better about myself... like I'm living well enough to afford the "better" kind. Doesn't make too much sense, and it makes me poor a lot, but oh well.

I can afford whatever kind but I actually LOVE the generic brand. Albertsons has the best! BUT the Hidden Valley Ranch packets you mix with sour cream are supa good! slurp!
