You’re making bread, and you want to take the bread out of the oven after 45 minutes. However, the only instruments you have to measure time are two ropes of equal length and some matches.
Rope A and Rope B will take exactly one hour to burn, individually. However, the rate at which they burn is not the same, and is not constant either. In other words, after 5 minutes it could’ve burned half the rope, and the other half takes 55 minutes.

So, how would you determine when there’s only 45 minutes left?

Damn it I can only figure out 30 mins. I might have the second part figured out but I'm not sure and don't want to post and ruin it for others. I'm gonna light a cigarette and see If that helps.

You'll save time (thus money) by going and buying a cheap stopwatch. haha Plus, you can use the stopwatch more than once.
