you have chicks?
So, I completely dismissed this thread, because of the fact that it seemed so ridiculous.
Now I understand you were talking about baby chickens.
and I feel silly

Silly goose, you aren't supposed to grow baby chicks, you're supposed to eat the embryos  ...that sux that you got ripped off though...can you not devise a homemade incubator?...shouldn't be THAT hard with the items available in stores now-a-days...

Ahh we had four baby chickies but they've all died. At least two were killed by a racoon and he killed three big chickens that lay big yummy eggs. That racoon, has already met his demise......hahaha.
My guy has i think 3 or 4 peacock eggs in an incubator. I think they are at 20 days, we don't know if they are fertile or not though. Should know after 28 days i think.

Spoiling pets can get costly but you gotta love them

Uh, I've put a restriction on Nici buying the dogs certain items...she used to LOVE getting them stuffed animals...even tried getting them a pad for their kennel...as I predict everytime, their ultimate goal is to rip it open and spread the padding/stuffing all over...so, no more stuffed ANYTHING for them...
Well the only concern i can think of in building your own incubator, would be humidity in with the eggs, keeping them warm wont be an issue, keeping the humidity about right is normally the hard part in incubating eggs.
i know for reptile keepers, the suggested method is an insulated box, with a fish tank water heater placed in like a deep enough mason jar full of water, so it heats the chamber as well as keep it somewhat humid, but also being avian eggs, they may not need any kind of humidity requirement to hatch..
as for buying toys for pets, im guilty of that, i have a humongous ferret ball, that the ferret hates ( we use it as his time out chamber ) along with half a dozen chew toys that he has never even given a second glance to....
