I am making some stuff for Christmas, and I need to find a cord with a *small* light on the end. A light that produces heat. I'm thinking a halogen light.
I have searched the internet for DAYS trying to find a way to make it, buy it, pull it out of my ass, etc. Do ANY of you know where I can buy something like this, or how I can make it?
I srsly need help with this. Thanks guise :)
what are the diameters you are looking for?

um hm... small?
the light has to fit in an opening that's going to be like... maybe 2-3 inches in diameter. So the light needs to be way small, but still produce heat.
I'm making oil warmers, if that helps. So think oil warmer. haha.

hmm, you could get a resister, like what they have in ski boot warmers. its not as pretty as a light, but you could put a smaller, safer light instead to reduce the risk of fire.
^what he said... if not, jack your daughter's EZ-Bake oven.
Pretty much any lightbulb will produce heat, and oils don't require too much heat to release their scent... this IS going to be plugged into the wall, yes?

Yes, it's being plugged into the wall. The people I'm giving these to all have kids, and I'd rather make it electric, than use a candle, even though it would be easier, and cheaper. I'd rather have it be safer.

Yeah, it's going to be in ceramic.
So, ok, now I know I can use pretty much any lightbulb.
Where can I buy JUST a cord with a light socket thing on the end? That's what I really need. And I have looked. I looked online, I looked at walmart, and shopko. But nadda
uhhhh walmart and shopko are end-user consumer markets. if you're looking to build shit go to a construction supply store. i'm sure home depot/lowes will have something you could use. I'll ask my friend where she gets her stuff and get back to ya.

This is something like what I need. Just not so long of a cord, and I'll probably need something for the light socket to sit on so it stands up straight.
I'll try lowe's and home depot, but I hope they won't be too expensive...

you want electrical stuff (besides cords, sockets or outlets) go to radio shack.
Or (this is my favorite for electrical projects) go to DI, buy a lamp and gut the thing. Usually it's $10 for the lamp while it can run as high as $15-$20 at home despot.

Lowes Hardware.
i've had to use some like this for various projects.
