LAS VEGAS - O.J. Simpson, who went from American sports idol to celebrity-in-exile after he was acquitted of murder in 1995, was found guilty Friday of robbing two sports-memorabilia dealers at gunpoint in a Las Vegas hotel room. The 61-year-old former football star could spend the rest of his life in prison. Sentencing was set for Dec. 5.
A weary and somber Simpson released a heavy sigh as the charges were read by the clerk in Clark County District Court. He was immediately taken into custody.
The Hall of Fame football star was convicted of kidnapping, armed robbery and 10 other charges for gathering up five men a year ago and storming into a room at a hotel-casino, where the group seized several game balls, plaques and photos. Prosecutors said two of the men with him were armed; one of them said Simpson asked him to bring a gun.

The verdict came 13 years to the day after Simpson was cleared of murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman, in Los Angeles in one of the most sensational trials of the 20th century.
"I don't like to use the word payback," defense attorney Yale Galanter said. "I can tell you from the beginning my biggest concern ... was whether or not the jury would be able to separate their very strong feelings about Mr. Simpson and judge him fairly and honestly."

So they can let this guy get away with murder, but they got a problem when he uses necessary force to retrieve property that is "rightfully" his. What has this country came to?! So ill remember next time someone got shit that I think belongs to me Ill just kill em that way I got a better chance of getting away with it.

"What if we get caught?!"

"I got away with murder, do you think they'd catch me doing this?"

Its funny as hell that it was passed down on the 13 years to the day after he was acquitted...

The biggest issue they actually had with the "reclaiming" of "his" property is that he had sold the items a long time ago.
Thats the defense attorney and the DA showing that they have a sense of humor.
So I wonder what other words Yale had in mind if she did not like the word "payback"

I recall watching something last night about how OJ really just wanted to get the stuff back to prevent Goldman's father from getting any of it as part of the civil suit they won against him. How you can be found not guilty of murder in Federal Court, but then found guilty of being a contibutor to their death in civil court, I don't understand.

Hmm well I must have missed out on that part of the case when OJ gave the means to the actual murderer to go through with killing them. That is what contributing to murder means right?

You are complaining that he was found guilty?? Shit, I'm happy! I saw on the news just this morning that he could face up to 15 years in prison. If that isn't something to rejoice about, I don't know what is.

I'm not complaining I just find it to be ironic that he was acquitted for something more severe, and found guilty on something far less. Personally I hope the murderer spends the rest of eternity suffering for his deeds.

So ya lets party! :Banane57:

That is what contributing to murder means right?I really don't know. I don't understand how ANY verdict of you being associated with the murder of somebody (planning, contributing, executing) would cause you to simply be fined and allowed to stay out of jail. He really should have used a glove this time around, b/c he wasn't able to say it doesn't fit.
